Kate runs the Bupa Great Manchester 10K for her friend Nat
Hello my lovely friends and family :) As some of you will know, two years ago my dear and ever so fabulous friend, Nat's life was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with an extremely rare neuroendocrine tumour. It was truely heartbreaking to see one of my dearest friends go through such a terrible, life changing time. Neuroendocrine cancers are relatively unknown, difficult to diagnose and consequently, often get little help with money towards research, in comparison to other cancers. All money donated through 'just giving' will go towards research and support for patients at the NET Patient foundation. Nat is our medical miracle...she is now in remission. In order to get me across that finish line, the thought of raising money for this charity, would make it less painful, so if you can sponsor me anything, I would be soooo grateful. Muchly Love Kate xxxx http://www.justgiving.com/kate-omanManchester

A message from Julie Cripps:Dear Family & Friends of Andy I have pleasure in confirming that the 2013 charity 'AndyCap' event, in memory of Andy, is booked and going ahead. Music weekend for NET Cancer Day in Oundle
Mark Swanziger has organized a music weekend (9-11 Nov 12) in the "Green Room" at the Chequered Skipper Pub in Ashton, nr Oundle, Peterborough, Northamptonshire, PE8 5LD (http://www.chequeredskipper.co.uk/). If you've heard of this pub before, it may because it used to host the "World Conkers Championships". It will start around 6 on Friday night with a younger band line up. Saturday afternoon will be open mic acoustic and gradually get a little more lively towards Mark's band "Crafty Jack" playing that night. With some guest singers for when they've had enough. Sunday afternoon will also be a acoustic open mic with a chilled out atmosphere. The landlords (Ian and David Campbell) are putting on several kegs, chicken wings and chilli. For the sweet tooth, Ian (also the chef) is going to make a bunch of Mark's daughter's infamous "Zebra Cake Balls". These were extremely popular at the "Relay for Life" we did in May. On Saturday the 10th Mark and friends will be in the Oundle Marketplace handing out leaflets and selling chances for drawings and promoting the music weekend at Ashton.Oundle

Marakebabathon
This annual event involves a 13 mile walk/run and lots of pints. Here is how it works, in NPF Trustee Dr Neil Rushton's own words: You may walk run hobble cheat the 13mile run , however cheating is definitely frowned upon in the 13 pints bit, as your bibs are marked. Its a really huge cup for trophy hunters. The basic deal is that you buy an expensive T shirt for £40 ,35 of that goes to the charity., in this case Neuroendocrine tumour foundation (NETS) , and you get a great day out.It finishes with a kebab about midnightish. The winner is not the quickest around by any means, and last time was given to man who told the best jokes. Only thing is only the judges know the criteria. I had a great time last time and met a whole new lot of salad dodger 'mensa 'type people . The only thing i wont be repeating is to ask James to sing with in a Karaoke bar, his rendering of 'Candles in the rain ' is still seared into my memory . If you know of anyone i have missed out please pass on .The only thing to really remember about the day is that there are basically no rules hundreds of laughs, and oh yes don't drive homeExeter

Buenos Aires Half Marathon
Best of luck, and enormous thanks to Anna Durham, who will be running the Buenos Aires half marathon for her friend Nat, and raising money for the Foundation. Here's why Anna is running: "I have learnt a lot recently about a rare and relatively unknown cancer. I have learnt that carcinoid tumours are a type of neuroendocrine tumour. I have learnt that they vary greatly in size, location, symptoms and growth meaning diagnosis and treatment is specific to each person. I have learnt that diagnosis can be long, complicated and confusing. I have learnt that patients are prodded, poked, injected and scanned whilst living with a rollercoaster of symptoms, side effects and emotions. I have learnt that my friend Nat has incredible courage, patience and humour. So, with Nat's blessing, I have decided to run the Buenos Aires half marathon on 11 September for the NET Patient Foundation. This is a UK registered charity which aims to raise awareness of neuroendocrine cancer, and get all patients like Nat and their families the support, treatments and access to expertise that they deserve. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations." Golf Charity Day and Dinner
Following the untimely death of Sunninghill resident Andy Cripps in January, his wife Julie has been busy keeping his memory alive, including erecting a memorial bench at Ascot United FC, and also finding out more about the rare type of cancer Andy had, after the late diagnosis a few weeks before he died. Shortly after the funeral, a couple of Andy's close friends mentioned they'd like to organise a Golf Charity Day and Dinner, in memory of Andy. Julie is helping with the organisation for the day and evening, which will be held at Sutton Green Golf Club in Woking on Saturday 25th June. Julie will be donating funds raised to the NET Patient Foundation. Julie adds, "After a lot of googling and talking to medical professionals involved in Andy's care over the last few months, this charity 'hit the spot' for me and felt so personal and worthwhile with it's strong link to Andy's condition. There are only a handful of places left for the Andy's Charity Golf and/or dinner, which will include an auction with some great donated prices, such as a round of golf for 4 people at Sunningdale Golf Club and a holiday in Turkey, as well as entertainment from fellow local resident and ex work colleague of Andy's - Paul Marriner, who has offered his rock cover band "The Red Sticks" services for free on the evening. Paul's daughter Eve, also attends Charters School with Harry and Scott and is engrossed in her GCSE exams too, so the pressure is being felt all round....! If anyone would like to attend on 25th June, please contact Julie direct on 01344 620911 asap and/or visit http://www.justgiving.com/Andy-Cripps - the new NET charity donation page that Julie has recently set up, which includes information on the charity and a video compilation and photos of Andy.Woking
