Research interests

Professor Lewington’s main research focus is targeted radionuclide therapy for thyroid cancer, lymphoma, metastatic bone disease and neuroendocrine tumours and the application of functional imaging to assess treatment response. Current projects include the investigation of diagnostic mIBG imaging as an independent prognostic indicator in high risk neuroblastoma . A prospective study evaluating PET CT with diffusion weighted MRI as response indicators for radionuclide therapy in neuroendocrine malignancy is nearing completion.

She has provided nuclear medicine support for the current NCRI FOXFIRE study which combines chemotherapy with radio embolisation for patients with hepatic metastases arising from colorectal cancer. Further trials using this approach in patients with neuroendocrine tumours are planned.
